Meet The Team
Doc the Dolphin
Born 5 years ago off the North East coast of England, Doc became an advocate of environmental campaigns when his fin became caught in a carrier bag when he was just 3 weeks old. Luckily for Doc, his mum knew all about the dangers of carrier bags in the water and helped him to take it to the local recycling centre.
Today, Doc heads up an innovative campaign funded by Bargain Booze designed to reduce the number of carrier bags used in their stores and to encourage the use of funky environmentally friendly reusable bags to take your beer home in.
Research by Doc's long term friend Finlay has shown that not only will these bags make you more attractive to the opposite sex*, but they will help you get your shopping home without having to pick it up as it rolls down the street. They also help the environment and reduce the number of carrier bags that we use each year, estimated at 290 per person, per year for everyone in the UK!!
*Users of these carrier bags may not necessarily experience any increase in attractiveness!
Finlay the Flounder
Finlay has been Docs best friend for over 2 years now. They first met at their local recycling centre when Finlay was dropping off his empties and Doc was dropping off his empty cans of Tuna. Finlay was responsible for taking the photograph of Doc that was used to create the logo on the front of the reusable bags.
Finlay has a particular passion for recycling plastic bottles having found out that on average, every household in Britain uses 500 plastic bottles each year. Although being unable to wear a fleecy jacket (because he is a fish) he knows that recycled plastic can be used for a wide range of goods and services including the fillings for duvets, fleeces, garden furniture, pipes and more plastic bottles!
Willie the Whale
Willie is the largest, most serious one in the team and thinks that many of the ideas for saving the planet aren't hard hitting enough. Willie has a particular interest in glass, as untreated glass is 100 percent recyclable and can be endlessly recycled with no loss in quality.
Willie is well known on the recycling team having spent the whole of his life travelling around the world encouraging as many people as possible to reduce, reuse and recycle.
